Each morning begins with our summer day camp bus picking up our three bus counselors. While the bus counselors supervise the campers , the bus driver safely drives the bus and picks up the children who live in Great Neck . Not only are the bus counselors the first ones picked up in the morning, they are also the last ones dropped off in the afternoon.
When the summer day camp bus arrives to your home in Great Neck, your child will be greeted by the bus counselors , escorted onto the bus and seat-belted in. Once your child arrives at our Bayside campground, campers meet with their fellow campers, camp counselors and Division Leaders.
Our shady, cool and exclusive summer day camp campground is where campers will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of summer camp activities. We have both an indoor and outdoor campground located at the John Golden ballfields at Crocheron Park Our indoor air conditioned facility is complete with an auditorium, cafeteria and gymnasium.
At our campground, campers will participate in a variety of kid-friendly activities and sports such as kickball, flag football, volleyball, tennis, soccer, baseball, basketball and much more! At World of Discovery, we offer more than just sports. We also feature a full-time arts and crafts program and an interactive hands-on science program that is designed and run by NYS licensed science teachers.
Under the direction of our Water Safety Instructors, our team of American Red Cross certified lifeguards supervise and instruct swimmers in the safety of our exclusive swimming pool. Our swimming pool is open exclusively to World of Discovery campers and staff. Once campers are individually tested, they are placed into small group instruction of no more than 4 swimmers per lifeguard based on skill level. Not only do swimmers get the opportunity to participate in our swim instruction program but they also may participate in recreational swimming as well.
Campers embark on 2-3 weekly summer day camp field trips to some of the most exciting child-centered locations throughout New York City and Long Island. Trips are included in the cost of our summer day camp tuition.
